Academy school learns the process of producing a novel for World Book Day
Pupils even created a sequel and film script to adapt their novels to the screen.
Students engaged in an all-day quiz attempting to figure out which member of staff was hiding behind their favourite novel
Pupils didn't let lockdown get in the way of them celebrating World Book Day 2021.
Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, in Runcorn, Cheshire, did a range of activities for the special occasion on Thursday, March 4.
Key worker students at the school, and other students working remotely, all worked on a range of linked activities surrounding the process of producing and creating a novel.
Students in Years 7-10 enjoyed completing tasks such as writing their own novel about a key worker hero, becoming a copywriter and editing theirs and other's work, marketing and creating adverts for their novel, becoming an illustrator and designing the front cover of their novel and even creating a sequel and film script to adapt their novel to the screen.
Alongside this, OBA staff couldn't wait to get involved in the excitement by sharing videos discussing and reading out extracts from their favourite story which are being published every day of March across social media.
Students also engaged in an all-day quiz attempting to figure out which member of staff was hiding behind their favourite novel!
Miss Antonia Howard-Hildige, Assistant Head of English, who led on World Book Day this year has been blown away by the response from both staff and students.
Miss Howard said: "World Book Day is always an extravaganza at OBA, and I am thrilled that so many staff and students engaged with the day online with as much aplomb as they do in school.
"Reading is such an important skill as it fosters creativity and empathy, as well as improving communication and analytical skills, something that will help students across all subjects and beyond their time at the academy.
"I have been inundated with e-mails sharing the incredible work students have produced and I am already looking forward to World Book Day 2022!"
