MEDAL WINNER: Albion Dobrushi at the meet

It was a fantastic weekend for City of Liverpool’s Albion Dobrushi at the Derby Spring Meet. Starting on Friday evening he set a PB when taking gold in the 200m Butterfly, then over the weekend picked up another six gold medals, all in Personal Best times.

Club colleague Joe Ashley took gold in the 100m Breaststroke and 800m Freestyle, whilst George Daintith secured gold in the 1500m Freestyle as did Martha Sumnall. Kerry Hennie continued her good form with gold in the 200m Freestyle and silver in the 800m Freestyle.

There were also some impressive swims from Dominic Workman, Hannah Maher, Jacob Irving, Megan Templeton and Oliver Lambert. At the Manchester International Abbie Roscoe led a very strong Wirral Metro team, taking four golds, posting PB’s in the 200m Butterfly and 800m Freestyle.

Dior Beavan picked up a gold and two silvers, with Lauren Berry and Petra Varga each taking a gold and silver. Tash MacDonnell finished the weekend with a silver and bronze and there were two bronze medals for Reagan Young.

The 200m Butterfly saw Vivien Wilkinson take silver. Emily French and Lily Horton both added a bronze to their collections.

Callum Byrne led the Southport team with a bronze in the 200m Butterfly and he had good support in particular from Joel Morley, Eboni Thoburn, Harriet Rawlings and Faith Fellows. City of Liverpool’s Christopher Lamber was rewarded for his hard work with a silver and bronze whilst team mate Mai Burslem took silver in the 50m Butterfly.

In the Merseyside and District League at Everton, Halton took first place, just four points ahead of Prescot. St Helens held off Everton for third place who, in turn had Formby on their heels.

There was also a close finish at Huyton, with Garston edging Crosby for first place by six points. Bridgefield secured third place ahead of Liverpool Penguins, with Bootle and North Liverpool and Woodchurch pushing them all the way.
