All eyes on Wirral Metro at Spring Meet

MEET HOSTS: The successful Wirral Metro squad

Most eyes where on the Europa Pools in Birkenhead for the Wirral Metro Spring Meet, where the hosts, as expected were prominent. Ava Halliwell, Daniel French, Lauren Berry, Vivien Wilkinson, Petra Varga and Willaim Brearton were their major medal winners.

Andrew Clavis, with seven goals and three silvers, along with Albion Dobrushi, who picked up four golds and four silvers, led the Liverpool Penguins campaign, with Madison Minards taking bronze in the 400m Freestyle. Prescot finished with 15 golds, 29 silvers and 15 bronze, with large contributions from Chloe Jones, Ella Hewett, Freddie Garner, Georgia Watkins, Isabelle Carter, James Beever and Lily Walters.

Great to see Bootle & North Liverpool returning to be a strong force with Daisy D’Arcy, Sasha McNabb, Zerrin Bentham and Lucy Zygon outstanding. St Helens are another club on the rise with Hayden Battle, Shreyas Mishra, Oliver Crosby, Harry Glover and Amelia Mather being their medal winners.

James Graham and Emmy Rimmer spearheaded the Bridgefield campaign, with good support from Jess Cooney, whilst Ben Stephenson and Joseph Yu were to the fore for Garston. Jake Irving stood out for Everton, as did Dylan Harte and Callum Cheung.

It was a good all-round team performance from Halton with Daniel Houghton-Butler and Freya Karaski, along with Kevin Chiu heading their medal count. There were two bronze for Woodchurch’s Ivan Gately and a bronze for Spener Foggo.

Scarlett Barr of Ellesmere Port took silver in the 400m freestyle and bronze in the 200m Freestyle. Bebington travelled along the North Wales coast for the Menai Meet and returned with 25 Gold 22 Silver and 7 Bronze medals, plus two gold and two silvers in the relays.

ON FORM: Sophia Hewlett and May Leeson of Bebington

Sophia Hewlett was again in great form picking up a plethora of medals and PBs. Henry Sanderson, Matthew Keane and May Leeson also stood out in a great team performance. A number of clubs travelled to the Burnley Meet.

Crosby’s Tilly Stevens picked up two golds with Annabelle Irvine, Dylan Gregory, Oliver Lambert and Sofia Davies also standing in the medals. Flynn Robinson, Kitty Dyson, Charlotte Doyle and Niamh Corrigan led the Southport team. Formby duo Mathilda Gregory and Isabelle Hayes set a number of PBs, with Harry Davidson, Edith Marshall, Emily Davidson and Lucy Paton-Hampton in great form for Ormskirk.
