Anger as fly-tippers dump dangerous waste at Cockington
“This can have a devastating effect on wildlife and even pets"
FLY-TIPPERS have left potentially dangerous rubbish strewn around the picture-postcard village of Cockington.
Tins of paint and other chemicals have been dumped in the lanes and hedgerows. The rubbish also includes pieces of timber, food and drink containers and what look like roof tiles.

“I was absolutely shocked,” said Cockington businessman Kirk Petrakis, who runs K&H Cockington Carriages with his wife Hannah.
“We are talking about chemicals such as white spirit and cans of paint.
“Think of the amount of plastic that can get washed down to the sea by the water meadows, not to mention chemicals.
“This can have a devastating effect on wildlife and even pets.”
Torbay Council encourages people to report fly-tipping on public or private land.
Its recycling company SWISCo is responsible for removing fly-tipped rubbish on public land such as highways and pavements; parks, beaches and council-owned car parks; the grounds of a public building and public open spaces.
A page on which people can report fly-tipping appears on the council's website.
