Ifan Evans and Prys Lewis organized a quad bike ride and raised £2,635 for Gwenllian Ward, Bronglais Hospital Maternity Ward.
The journey, which took place on October 7, 2023, started at Pontarfynach in Aberystwyth and traveled over the Cambrian Mountains to Cwmystwyth and out to Rhos Fair before turning back for Pontarfynach.
Ifan said: “The quad bike ride is an annual event, we like to choose different local charities to support each year. It was a 35 mile ride with great weather and great scenery.
“It was a fantastic day with an incredible turnout. Over 120 quad bikes ventured out and all returned safely.
“We had great support from local people and people further afield with great support from local businesses as well as the landowners, which is very much appreciated. We are all looking forward to next year's trip.
"With six children between us, we know very well how hard the maternity staff work, it was a great opportunity to give them a little something back."
Emma Booth, Clinical and Executive Lead Midwife said: "As a team we are extremely grateful to Ifan and Prys for organizing the fundraising event and collecting a fantastic amount of money for Ward Gwenllian.
"This donation will be used to improve the experience of those who give birth here in Bronglais. The money raised for the maternity ward helps us to provide extra comforts for mothers and their babies that go beyond what the NHS provides as standard.
"It has been an honor to be part of Ifan and Gwawr's birth journey and this donation will help us to give women and babies the best possible experience when using our service."
Bridget Harpwood, Fundraising Officer, said: "We would like to say a big thank you to Ifan and Prys for making such a great effort to raise money for Gwenllian Ward. The support of our local communities enables us to provide services beyond what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive."
