Appeal for man who intervened when woman was attacked to come forward

POLICE are appealing for a man to come forward after he intervened when a woman was attacked.

The woman was assaulted on Cedar Grove, Macclesfield, Cheshire, on Wednesday, March 2, at around 7am.

It is believed that a member of the public challenged the attacker and then left the area.

DI Duncan Gouck, from Cheshire Police, said: “I’d urge this man to come forward and help us with our enquiries.

“I’d like to reassure him that he has done nothing wrong – we just need to get as much information as possible for our enquiries.

“I’d also appeal to anyone who saw a woman being assaulted in Cedar Grove that morning to contact us – that includes anyone with dash cam footage, or CCTV or doorbell cameras that may have picked up the incident.”

As part of the investigation a man, 21, has been arrested.
