Artisan market is latest addition to Carsington Water's calendar

Carsington Water is showcasing the very best of locally-sourced Derbyshire goods at a new artisan market.

Bringing together the best of local craftspeople – with lots of produce on offer from jewellery and candles to cheeses, cakes and much more – it will be held at the site on the third Sunday of every month.

The first market took place on April 21, featuring Staffordshire Cheese, Derbyshire Hand Painted Art, Amber Valley Ironwork and many more. More than 45 stalls showcased the best of artisan products in the region.

Donna Marshall, visitor experience manager at Severn Trent, said: “Carsington Water already has so much to offer visitors and we’ve been really keen for a while now to see if we can showcase some of the absolutely amazing foods and crafts from the local area.

“We’re so lucky to have this amazing site in the heart of Derbyshire, surrounded by beautiful countryside and all of these fantastic, talented artisanal businesses and we want to provide a platform for them to showcase their products.”

The artisan market is held on the third Sunday of every month and is open from 10am-4pm. The next will be on May 19 and is free to enter. On-site parking charges apply.

The Severn Trent Visitor Experience Team is encouraging any business owners who might like to get involved at a future event to get in touch.

Donna added: “This is hopefully just the first of many successful artisan markets, and we would encourage any local small businesses who would like to take a stall at a future market to contact us by emailing visitorsiteevents@severntrent.co.uk.”
