Ayr care home residents set up egg-stra special chick hunt for youngsters this Easter

Care home residents were delighted with the success of their egg-stra special Easter chick hunt for youngsters in the area.

Greenan Manor Care Home set up the Easter Egg Hunt with a twist for local primary children, which saw youngsters return hidden painted chick pebbles to the home in exchange for a chocolate egg.

All but eight of the 20 pebbles hidden in parks around Alloway returned to the home- with some still waiting to be found.

Greenan Manor Care Home Manager, Elaine Hughes, said: “The chick hunt was an ‘egg-cellent’ success and the residents loved seeing the children’s cheerful faces coming up the drive, pebble in hand, over the weekend.

Youngsters headed on to find the chick pebbles with their families

“The locals really seemed to enjoy the exercise, commenting that it was a great way to get their kids into the Easter spirit.

“We’re still missing eight bright yellow chick pebbles and we’d love to see them returned. We suspect they may have heard the call of our most famous poet and could be near Burns Cottage and the Burns Centre.”

The painted chicks can be returned to the care home reception and swapped for one of the remaining Easter egg prizes.
