Ayr pub coins in £1100 for Crohn's & Colitis UK

An Ayr pub coined in over £1000 for Crohn’s & Colitis UK in honour of a dedicated staff member.

Harleys, on Nile Court in Ayr, raised £1100 during their all-day music fundraiser Rock the Nile over the Easter weekend, which saw families flock to enjoy live music, bikes, face painters and stalls.

The pub and live music venue chose Crohn’s & Colitis UK charity this year as their operations manager Rachael Rennie has Crohn’s disease and took on the London Marathon on Sunday, April 23 in aid of the charity.

Rachael, 43, has so far raised a whopping £4500 for the cause.

She was diagnosed aged 19 and frequently battles pain, fatigue and is constantly planning ahead to ensure toilet facilities are nearby wherever she goes.

Steven ‘Funky’ Muir, of Harleys Ayr, said: “This year Crohn’s and Colitis UK was chosen because our new manager Rachael suffers from Crohn’s.

“It was good to raise the funds for a really good cause.

“The event was amazing. I tell everyone it’s like my Christmas Day because it’s my favourite day of the year.”
