Ayrshire's young people encouraged to take part in Scottish Apprenticeship Week
Employers who hire apprentices benefit from £5000 of funding
Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which runs from Monday, March 7 until Friday, March 11, is being championed by Tory MSP.
West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene has emphasised the benefits of doing an apprenticeship at the start of Scottish Apprenticeship Week.
This year’s focus of #ScotAppWeek22 is demonstrating apprenticeships work for Scotland’s business and young talent, by giving them the skills employers need now - and in the future.
Employers who hire apprentices are able to benefit from the Apprentice Employer Grant which provides up to £5000 of funding, as well as an enhanced Adopt an Apprentice offer for employers who take on an apprentice who has previously been made redundant.
This is in addition to the support with training costs which are central to Scottish apprenticeships.
Commenting, Jamie Greene said: “I am delighted to support Scottish Apprenticeship Week which highlights how beneficial choosing this path can be for so many young people.
“I fondly remember my days working as a runner at a media company in my early 20s and I gradually worked my way up the ladder.
“Whilst that was some 20 years ago the facts remain the same: apprenticeships can help young people gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen industry.
“Additionally, getting into employment sooner can mean there’s lots of potential to climb faster.
“Apprenticeships can be a great option and I encourage young people across our community to see what’s on offer and consider if this could be the right path for them.”
