Bangor radio station nominated for two awards in recognition of its work

A local radio station has been shortlisted for two national awards.

Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd - a hospital radio in Bangor, Gwynedd - has been nominated for the accolades in the National Hospital Radio Awards 2022.

They have been shortlisted for 'Station of the Year' and presenter Sarah Wynn Griffiths for 'Best Female Presenter of the Year'.

Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd has been broadcasting since 1976.

Kevin Williams, chairman of Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd said: "As a station, we are all so proud to be nominated for two awards in the National Hospital Radio Awards 2022.

"We had a fantastic year last year.

"We developed our station with more programmes and new presenters and we came top 5 in the UK for the second year running in the Community Radio Awards.

"Our team of volunteers and presenters work so hard on their programmes and the running of our station.

"I am over the moon with our award nominations and I’m proud of Sarah’s nomination- for ‘Best Female Presenter of the Year’, very well deserved.

"We are so honoured to be recognised nationally again this year."

The National Hospital Radio Awards will take place in Bolton later this year.

Grant McNaughton, chairman of the Hospital Broadcasting Association, said: "Hospital Broadcasting organisations across the UK have continued to deliver entertainment, news and information to healthcare users throughout this pandemic.

"What is truly remarkable is that our member stations have adapted to these difficult times and remained committed to serving, producing and presenting dedicated local radio for the healthcare community.
