Two local care homes are welcoming visitors again after a change in government guidelines that allows one named family member to visit their loved one in a care home.
Residents at Meadow Park and Chester Court care homes have welcomed the change in guidance and have been enjoying the long awaited reunions with their families.
Residents at the homes in Bedlington, Northumberland, can now have one nominated family member visit them in their bedroom.
The visitor must provide a negative Covid-19 result through a Lateral Flow test before entering the home.
Margaret, a resident at Meadow Park said: “The staff here have been so wonderful supporting me to use video calls and creating the visiting suite so I could keep in touch with my family, but nothing beats seeing my daughter in the comfort of my bedroom.
"This was a special moment, and I was over the moon.”
