As hairdressers remain closed during lockdown, one young school boy has come up with a creative way to utilise his growing locks to help raise money and support frontline workers in the NHS.
George Azzopardi, a pupil at Paschal Primary School, started a month long challenge, wearing his hair in bunches, on Thursday, May 14.
The six-year-old from Belle Vale in Liverpool, Merseyside, wanted to raise money to help NHS staff to fight coronavirus.
George's mum, Barbie, explains: "We were messing around with his hair as it’s gone quite long during lockdown so we put a lot of bobbles in, he then realised he looked like the COVID-19 cells on the news and asked could he keep his hair like this for a month to raise some money for the NHS.
"I was so taken back that my six-year-old boy would be thinking like this at such a young age.
"When questioning him further he said he missed his nanny and wants to help so he can give her a missive hug."
George set a fundraising target of £400, which he met within the first week of the challenge, and is now working towards his new target of £500.
