A world-famous brass band is set to perform in Rochdale to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Black Dyke Band, one of the oldest brass bands in the world, are due to perform at Champness Hall on Thursday, June 2 - providing an evening of film scores, toe-tapping big band music and patriotic favourites to celebrate the reign of Her Majesty.
During the performance the band will be joined on stage by Wardle Junior Blast, a youth band made up of young brass players from primary schools across Wardle and Littleborough.
Professional opera singer Tom Smith will also sing two songs with the band, including ‘Nessun Dorma’.
Organiser Ben Wright said: “Black Dyke are not your 'traditional' brass band as they have toured USA, Australia and Europe with the likes of Elton John and The Beatles, as well as being the first brass band to perform on the pyramid stage at Glastonbury in 2017!
“They have been described as the most famous brass brand in the world and we have the honour of having them perform at Champness Hall.

“Experience the uplifting sounds of a traditional brass band in the 21st century, we guarantee you will not leave disappointed.”
The event will take place at 6.30pm on June 2 at Champness Hall, Drake Street, Rochdale, OL16 1NZ.
Tickets prices are: adults £14, concessions £12, children/students £5 and are available from www.whatsoccurrinrochdale.co.uk.
