Brentwood school hosts Early Years conference
The Ursuline Preparatory Pre Prep Department welcomed 30 delegates from the East of England
Attendees enjoyed talks and open discussions with highly-qualified Early Years professionals
The Ursuline Preparatory Pre Prep Department welcomed delegates from across the early years profession to the ISA Eastern Region Early Years Network meet-up recently.
Having not been able to hold the event for the past two years due to the pandemic, the school was delighted to finally be able to bring teachers and professionals together to learn more about early years genre on January 20.
During the event, attendees enjoyed an in-person talk from Professor Pat Preedy - co-editor of Redefining Early Childhood Education (2019) and contributor to The Physical Development Needs of Young Children (2019) - who spoke about how to navigate early years assessments and meet inspection requirements. With a distinguished career behind her, as both a head teacher and chief academic officer, Professor Preedy was an excellent choice for the networking meeting.

A further talk was delivered by Sue Palmer, who joined via a Zoom call from Edinburgh. Sue spoke about her campaign 'Upstart Scotland' which advocates for a longer period of  kindergarten play-based learning for children from the ages of three to eight.
Following the talks, the attendees at the meet-up in Brentwood, Essex, were able to ask questions to the speakers and also share ideas and experiences among themselves.
Staff and speakers enjoyed the event, and it is hoped that further events will be scheduled in which to discuss the future of Early Years learning.
