Burglars target Tilehurst Co-Op in overnight raid

Thieves have broken into the Co-Op supermarket in Tilehurst overnight.

The store in Overdown Road was burgled at around 1.30am on Tuesday, May 1.

Shoppers reported seeing the shop had been cordoned off by police at 7.20am.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Officers were called at about 1.30am following reports of a burglary at Co-Op, Overdown Road, Tilehurst.

"It is believed that an amount of cash was stolen during the incident.

"Officers attended the scene and are carrying out an investigation.

"No arrests have yet been made. Anyone with any information relating to the incident is asked to call 101."
