A care home in Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk, made sure that residents didn’t miss out on a trip to the beach this year.

Residents at Care UK’s Glastonbury Court, on Glastonbury Road, had missed the sights and sounds of the sea over the last year, and wanted to enjoy fish and chips at the beach - so the team organised a special trip to Felixstowe for the day.

One resident, Barry, said: “I used to take my daughter to the beach, and teach her how to skim pebbles in the sea.

"I taught the team members how to skim pebbles when we visited Felixstowe, which brought back very fond memories. It felt great to be back at the beach again.”

Elena Bratu, home manager at Glastonbury Court, said: “Our day trip to Felixstowe was one for the books, and there’s no doubt we’ll still be talking about it for weeks to come.

“Residents have fond memories of the seaside and often share stories from their beach holidays over the years - which is why it was so important for us to ensure we could visit Felixstowe this year to make even more happy memories.

“It was a fantastic day, and we’re already planning our next big day out.”
