Camel Creek attraction park near Padstow delays re-opening

Family attraction Camel Creek is to delay its post-lockdown reopening to continue its makeover programme.

The park, near Padstow, Cornwall, could have reopened under the Prime Minister’s lockdown easing roadmap from April 12.

Instead, it has decided to reopen full more than a month later so it carry on its improvement work which bosses at the park said would herald the beginning of a new multi-million pounds makeover.

When it reopens visitors will see a different layout and new rides coming on board over the coming months.

Camel Creek was recently awarded silver in the Cornwall Tourism Awards’ large attraction category.

Operations director Alex Camelin said: “We have gone above and beyond to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all of our visitors and we will continually review our processes in accordance with government guidance.

"After a difficult year, I am looking forward to welcoming families back to the park in May for a special day out, to create happy memories.”

As a way of thanking its 5,000 annual pass members for their continued support, the first opening weekend will be May 15-16 which will be reserved for annual pass holders, with the park opening to the general public from Saturday May 22.

For the first members-only re-opening weekend, only outdoor areas will be open, and food will be takeaway only.

The following weekend, all indoor areas will re-open as normal, alongside indoor dining outlets.
