Cat-lovers are being invited to use their spare time to help rescued cats get back on their feet as they wait for their perfect home.
Cats Protection in Downpatrick, County Down is looking for people who can foster cats at their own home until their purr-fect owner is found.
Potential fosterers don't need any special equipment, just a spare room or space in their garden for a cat pen.
Fostering cats can be a rewarding experience. Some cats need extra care and have additional needs and by fostering you offer a less stressful home than a shelter. Cats can be placed with you for a few days, or a few months.
Bradford, a two-year-old, fun loving cat is diabetic and lives with his fosterer, Andrée Brown. Bradford requires extra care as he needs a daily dose of insulin.
Andrée said: “Being a fosterer for Cats Protection is a very rewarding experience, I have been fostering for six years and have homed over 400 cats and kittens. When a cat comes into our care, this is the start of the journey in finding them a forever home.”
Cats Protection supports fosterers throughout the time a cat is living with them by providing food, bedding, and litter trays, and by paying for veterinary care, and bedding and litter trays.
