Canalside Farm launch competition to make your own sausages
Email your idea for the perfect sausage for a chance to have it made and win a hamper
Canalside Farm near Stafford are celebrating National Butchers Week with a bang from March 8 to 14 by offering one lucky customer the chance to create their own banger!
All you have to do is email the farm’s resident team of butchers your idea for the perfect sausage and the winner will have their perfect banger made and sold in the Farm Shop the following week.
Plus the winner will receive a hamper full of delicious local produce, including the winning sausages.
The family-run farm, who have been making over 15 different varieties of home-made sausages in their butchery for the last 10 years, have built up a fantastic reputation for all their home-made products.
The farm shop’s head butcher Tom Lea, pictured above, said: “All of our sausages are made here on the premises, with Packington’s finest free range pork, including flavours such as pork and tomato; Boozy Banger and traditional Cumberland.
“We have a great relationship with our customers and are always eager to listen to what they think, so we thought it would be great to get them involved.”
The farm shop also makes a wide variety of their own products on the premises, including burgers, sausage rolls, meat balls and pork pies and won a National Award last year for ‘Farm Shop of the Year’.
Tom continued: “We believe that traceability and local provenance is essential to quality and taste, and even have local farmers coming in to buy our meat from us, which must be a good sign!”
It is indeed a very good sign, as since opening the butchery counter in their farm shop nearly 10 years ago with just one member of staff, they now employ four full-time butchers.
The butchery counter also supplies the farm’s café and take-away coffee hut with a wide range of burgers, sausages and home-cured bacon.
For the chance to win this delicious hamper, email your ideas to shop@canalsidefarm.co.uk by Friday, March 12. The winner will be announced on Sunday, March 14.
Canalside Farm, Shop and Café are located in Great Haywood, just six miles outside Stafford, Staffordshire. They are open seven days a week from 9am to 4pm.
