Care home resident hosts art exhibition for local charity
A resident artist at Water Mill House care home has raised over £1,400 for local charity, The Hospice of St Francis.
David Moore, a resident at Water Mill House care home in Hemel, Hertfordshire, has used his artistic talents to raise money for local hospice charity, The Hospice of St Francis.
The exhibition, which was hosted at the care home, saw over 100 of David's paintings sold, raising more than £1,400 in donations.
In his youth, David was a keen motorcyclist and competed in the Isle of Mann TT races three times, before suffering a crash in the 1970s, which led him to discover his passion and talent for art during his recovery.
In honour of David's motorcycling career, his family brought his vintage 250 NSU motorcycle, which he restored and raced on in the 1950s, to display as the centre piece of the exhibition.
Noelia Fernandes, care home manager, said: "It was wonderful to see David, who is living with dementia now, so happy with his friends and family around him as well as his motorcycling buddy, Steffen Rosen who came all the way from Sweden for the event."
The funds raised by the event will be used to help support The Hospice of St Francis' work, supporting patients and families dealing with terminal illness.
