Carmarthenshire hearing specialists reach Wales Small Businesses Awards final
The family-run audiology firm started in 2006 and was at the end of the phone for customers during the pandemic
Carmarthen-based specialist Hearing Aid Solutions is a finalist in this year's Wales Small Business Awards in the Family Business category.
The family-owned and run audiology business was started in Carmarthen by Martyn Scott in 2006 with his wife Pippa.
Both military veterans, they built the business from scratch, growing it steadily over the years.
Hearing Aid Solutions provide hearing assessments with the latest technology, invisible hearing aids, ear wax removal, noise protection and tinnitus support.
The business was started in Water Street in Carmarthen, moving to larger premises eventually opening in King Street.
It now has clinics in Carmarthen, Llanelli and Cardiff.
When their son Michael graduated with a degree in business, he came into the firm to build their online presence and provided a fresh set of eyes.
Michael enjoyed the rewarding work he saw on a daily basis so much, that he also undertook a degree in audiology to become a hearing aid dispenser
like his father.
Throughout the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, Martyn and Pippa were at the end of the phone everyday for their clients, carrying out hearing aid repairs and keeping their clients engaged with family and friends in an isolated world.
The business is built on family values, and is reflected by the very low staff turnover and clients returning year on year.
The Welsh final of the awards takes place at voco St. David's Cardiff on Friday, April 8.
