Carmarthenshire’s Skanda Vale Hospice to welcome back in-patients
It will be welcoming up to six patients with life-limiting illnesses to its fully-fitted facility
Skanda Vale Hospice in Saron, near Llandysul, Carmarthenshire, is gearing up ahead of the re-opening of its monthly respite service this month.
The hospice is currently a flurry of activity as staff and volunteers prepare for the return of in-patients for one week every month.
It will be welcoming up to six individuals with life-limiting illnesses to its fully-fitted facility, offering a much-needed break to family, friends and loved ones – all completely free of charge.
Skanda Vale Hospice is unique in that the vast majority of its team– nurses, carers, kitchen staff, cleaners, office workers and gardeners – are all volunteers who offer their time, energy and expertise to help those in need of support for free.
Ahead of the re-opening, the Hospice has launched a “one night a month” campaign in a bid to encourage health care support workers and carers to donate one night of their time a month to caring for patients, with the support of the on-
site registered nurse.
Anyone who would like to get involved in volunteering in any of the many roles available, or know someone who might benefit from the care and support offered by the hospice can get in touch by calling 01559 371222, or by emailing
