Chair of Uffculme Parish stands down due to dislike of online meetings

The chair of Uffculme Parish Council has stepped down from the authority, citing a dislike for online meetings.

Speaking to councillors at a meeting of Uffculme Parish Council on Monday, March 1, town clerk Verity Aldridge announced that Esther Hagelstein had stood down.

She said: “Esther has tendered her resignation both as chairman and councillor with immediate effect.

"We do have a vacancy and statutory notices will be going out in Spotlight and on Facebook.

“Esther’s main reason for leaving was not liking the online platform for meetings. I know lots of you share those thoughts.

“Hopefully, we can all muddle through a little bit longer and we will be able to meet formally again.

“She has also said she wanted a little more time to herself.

"She’s been part of the council for a lot of years and has done an awful lot - I don’t blame her at all.”
