Two chefs from The Post House Bar and Grill in Stafford are stepping out of the kitchen and getting ready to pound the pavements in this year's half marathon.

They will be among the thousands of runners heading into town from all over the Midlands and beyond.

The event, organised by Freedom Leisure in partnership with Stafford Borough Council, is taking place this Sunday, March 20 starting at 10am in Stafford Street.

Meziane Arezki, 42 from Wildwood, and Joe Purdy, aged 18 who lives in Parkside, are swapping their chef uniforms for running gear and taking on the 13.1 mile challenge to help support Katharine House Hospice.

They are being sponsored by their employer who will be cheering them on during the race.

And the restaurant is also offering the chance to win a meal for two at The Post House; two starters, two mains, two desserts and a bottle of Champagne on arrival.

Raffle tickets cost £5 each from the restaurant and all proceeds go to Katharine House Hospice.

Mez, who has been running for 12 years and supporting KHH for the past seven said: "I always love to help the hospice in memory of friends who have received support from them and it’s highly rewarding to be able to run for such an important charity that helps so many people.”

Joe, who is running the course for the first time, said he decided to run with Mez to support the charity.

"It’s a great local charity and I’m looking forward to the race and supporting my colleague Mez and a charity that is close to his heart."

The pair would like to raise £1,000 for the Stafford based hospice. If you would like to support them you can donate via their JustGiving page by clicking here.
