Pupils at a local school have celebrated their sporting achievements after spending the year developing their athletic abilities.

Throughout the year, pupils at St Clare’s Catholic Primary School in Chester, Cheshire have been encouraged to develop their skills under the guidance of sports teacher Chris Wright.

During the periods of lockdown, children were encouraged to take part in daily challenges at home to practise their skills, and the results have been remarkable.

Pupils took part in the Chester schools stage of the winter virtual games in athletics for key stage two, and football for years three and four.

After their success, pupils then entered the Cheshire and Warrington County competition which saw year five and six pupils as runners up, and years three and four pupils crowned the winners.

Key stage two pupils took part in a variety of skill challenges and demonstrated their teamwork and determination.
