Children’s hospice receives donation from Merseyside developer

A housebuilder has donated £1,500 to Claire House Children’s Hospice. The charity, which has sites in Wirral and Liverpool, looks after seriously and terminally ill children.

It gives them the opportunity to live life to the fullest by creating wonderful experiences and helping bring a sense of normality back to family life. The support from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will help the charity provide specialist nursing, end-of-life care, and emotional support to over 400 families.

The developer is based close by at its Sundial Place developments on Lydiate Lane. The donation was made as part of The Barratt Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Harry Boshell, from Claire House, said: “The support we have received from Barratt and David Wilson Homes over the last year has been incredible. The whole team have been involved in putting on events for Claire House, taking part in fundraising challenges and giving up their time to support us with volunteering activities.

“We are so grateful for this amazing donation. It will make a massive difference to families who are going through the hardest of times and it will help us reach out to more families in the future.”

With a team of trained and passionate professionals, Claire House’s site in Wirral has a hydrotherapy pool, games room, art room and a sensory room. The charity strives to provide children with safe, fun spaces to relax and enjoy themselves.

Having opened the doors to its Liverpool site in 2018, Claire House has made tremendous strides to support more children in Merseyside. Offering services such as daycare, complementary therapies, groups, counselling and dedicated play areas, the West Derby site now caters to the increased demand with space to grow and care for more children and families.

Claire Jarvis, from Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, said: “The work Claire House Children’s Hospice provides is vital and we wish the charity all the best in supporting those in the community. We hope it can continue to enrich the lives of those it supports and cares for.”
