A discretionary grant scheme from Chorley Council has reopened for applications from local businesses.

The Additional Restrictions Grants is now open for additional applications following its initial offering in December 2020.

The latest round of the scheme has also broadened its applicant criteria to reach a wider range of struggling businesses across Chorley, Lancashire.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said: "We have to distribute the Additional Restrictions Grant funds in line with government guidance but with flexibility to establish local criteria to support the economic need of Chorley.

"We’ve been able to support a high volume of businesses in the first round of this discretionary scheme, as well as with the other funding schemes available.

“However, we are hearing from some business types that are still finding themselves ineligible for other types of funding, so we have done what we can to try to broaden the criteria for the discretionary fund to help more businesses affected by the pandemic.

"It’s impossible to be able to financially support every single business in Chorley as this is a limited fund but we are trying to support as many businesses as possible."

Businesses who wish to apply for the second round of the discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant should visit the Chorley Council website for further information and complete the online form by 11.59pm, on Thursday, March 4.
