Colchester friends complete London Landmarks Half Marathon

Amber and Julie, two friends from Colchester participated in the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of Variety, the Children's Charity. Amber, an avid supporter of the charity, often rallies friends and family for fundraising endeavours.

Last year, she participated in the Superhero Triathlon alongside her husband Chris, brother Toby and their son Arlo, who is now two years old. Arlo was born with bilateral cataracts and underwent surgery to remove his lenses, leaving him with limited vision.

Despite this challenge, Amber's family is dedicated to supporting charities that provide essential equipment for children with disabilities to thrive. The London Landmarks Half Marathon route winds through the heart of the city, passing iconic landmarks like Big Ben, the London Eye and the Tower of London.

This event marks just one of Amber and Julie's fundraising efforts for Variety, the Children's Charity. In addition to the London Landmarks Half Marathon, Amber has committed to running the Manchester Marathon and the London Marathon, totalling 65.5 miles over three weeks, all in support of Variety.

Variety, the Children's Charity, is commemorating its 75th anniversary in the UK this year. The organisation offers practical assistance to disabled and disadvantaged children, including wheelchair and equipment grants, memorable experiences through Variety Great Days Out, accessible transport with Sunshine Coaches for schools and work experience opportunities via the Access Interns program.

On July 7, Amber, Arlo, and their family will participate in Parallel Windsor, an inclusive challenge event held in Windsor Great Park. Variety aims to assemble a team of 75 individuals to mark their 75th anniversary.
