A nursery practitioner in Croydon is aiming to raise £200 for a mental health charity by walking 1,000 miles.

Celeste Harflet is fundraising for Mental Health Research UK and has already walked for more than 14 hours in pursuit of her target.

She now needs a boost of support from the community to help her reach her goal.

Celeste said: “It is my goal to help others who suffer with mental health issues as I know it can be hard to speak out. I have suffered with anxiety on and off for six years on and off and depression for a year.

"I have been supported and given support from family and friends who have suffered themselves. I also work alongside children and find it important to provide them opportunities to be able to speak out about their emotions, this is the same with the colleagues I work with on a daily basis.
"I feel no one should keep quiet any longer it is okay not to be okay and to get help."

Celeste’s employer, The Butterfly Patch, is supporting her with the journey by matching the donations up to £200 as well as using their platform to spread the word.

Mental Health Research UK, which was founded in 2008, is the first UK charity which raises funds for research into mental illness, causes and treatments.

Donations to Celeste's challenge can be made on her fundraising page.
