The winners of a fiercely contested photography competition are due to be announced and one local photographer is delighted to have been selected as a finalist.
The Guild of Photographers Image of the Year Competition has seen over 16,000 entries from across the globe.
Emma Finch, who is from Didsbury, Greater Manchester, has had one of her photos selected in the Portraiture genre in the final round, which sees only 10 photos selected across the various genres.
This achievement has seen her gain international acclaim as photographers across the globe entered the competition.
Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said: “One of the Guild’s aims is to drive standards and creativity amongst photographers. Our competition certainly does that, for the standard of the entries we see each month is quite staggering.
"To have an image recognised by the Guild in the monthly competition is difficult enough, so to have an image selected as being one of the best in a category for the end of year final is without doubt an incredible achievement, and shows just how talented photographer, Emma is."
The winner of the competition will be announced in early February.
