Documenting 2020 at Westfield primary
'Future generations will be able to get an idea of what life was like for us at this time. They’ll read our words, see our pictures and watch our videos.'
To mark this unusual year, Westfield primary school in Woking, Surrey, has filled a time capsule and buried it in the school's wild garden.
The school felt the year could not go by unmarked for future generations, so pupils decided to fill a time capsule with photos and news reports from our time, as well as thoughts, accounts and pictures of what this generation has experienced during lockdown.
The time capsule includes the pupils' hopes and dreams for the future beyond lockdown, as well as a list of things they like about the world and miss.

A student said: "We also included the videos we made as a school and letters from our head teacher, Mrs Hing, and our governors. These letters are written to the generations that will come after us."
Mrs Hing helped bury the time capsule with the head boy and girl, Chuma and Amelia.
The student said: "Future generations will be able to get an idea of what life was like for us at this time. They’ll read our words, see our pictures and watch our videos.
"What will they think of it all? What will life be like for them in a hundred years time?"
