Dorkinian under-15s secured a SSYFL Cup final place on Saturday following a battling victory away to Milford.

Milford started the game strongly, with their impressive striker latching on to a through ball to take a 1-0 lead.

Dorkinians battled their way back into the game via a fine Oil Poulter strike to tie the game. Striker Isaac Collins then fired home to take a 2-1 lead.

But Milford again managed to breach the Dorkinian defence to draw the scores level at 2-2 just before half-time.

In the second half, Dorkinians created several opportunities which were either saved or squandered.

But as the team began to play a more expansive game, the fast feet and dynamic passing of Will Bass started finding holes in the Milford defence.

Oli Poulter latched on to a pass to fire his team 3-2 ahead.

The ferocious midfield press of Jess Thomas and Freddie Brown then throttled the Milford supply, and Josh Spooner nullified Milford’s forward threat for most of the half.

However, it still took some crucial interceptions from Oli Belham, Oli Bremmer and Nick Humphreys and a critical Jack Phoeby save to ensure the side from Dorking, Surrey, closed the game out as 3-2 winners.

Table-topping Dorkinians now look forward to a cup final on April 23 and can begin dreaming of back-to-back league and cup doubles, with just two league games remaining.
