A dynamic leader is being sought to transform Tiverton’s popular market.
Mid Devon District Council (MDDC) is searching for a market manager to head up a small team to increase stall holders and people through the doors, and pay them up to £34,728 in return.
A spokesperson for MDDC said: “This is not a job for the fainthearted, the retail world is changing and it is more challenging to develop the small independent retailers of the future.
We are looking for someone who can deliver a more vibrant and dynamic shopping environment, a better mix of stalls, from the essential to the quirky, which will cater for the young as well as older customers, innovative ways to promote the market to bring in footfall, and to maximise the income received from the market.”
The successful applicant will lead the renaissance of Tiverton Pannier Market and develop a business plan to improve short and long term improvements and success to the market.
MDDC added: “They will be representing the market at the forefront of wider regeneration activity in Tiverton town centre.
“The post holder will be responsible for the management of staff. It is helpful if you have had prior experience of retail management or pannier market management, business development and marketing, and essential that you can manage staff, projects and services to budget and timetable and have excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
“The job is also all about achieving and maintaining good working relationships with staff, traders and stakeholders through motivation and enthusiasm. If you have enthusiasm and determination to take on a new challenge then we would like to hear from you.”
