Egg Hunt will take place at 98-acre woodland site on the outskirts of Stone
The grounds are rarely open for the general public to be able to simply attend
Spring is here and with lockdown lifting families have the opportunity to experience the beautiful grounds of Kibblestone International Scout Camp near Stone for the first time in over a year.
Kibblestone is hosting a family Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, April 4 2021 when families will be challenged to follow clues, roam the Kibblestone grounds and earn Easter Eggs.
Kibblestone has a 98-acre woodland site on the outskirts of Stone, Staffordshire is usually not open to the public. It’s normally used for activities but has been closed since March 2020 when the first Covid-19 pandemic lockdown was announced.
Manager Steve Fern, pictured above, said: “We’re delighted to be opening up again and we will be throwing the site open for an Easter Egg Hunt. This is an opportunity for families to explore the site and have fun.
“People must book their places in advance and the event is, of course, subject to no further Covid-19 restrictions being announced.”
The site is also being thrown open for Bluebell Day on May 23. Kibblestone Camp will be carpeted in beautiful bluebells and is sure to be a spectacular sight.
Visit for a guided tour around the site and treat yourself to a hot drink and a cake. Kibblestone will be open from 2pm to 6pm. For more information or to book please email manager@kibblestone.org.
The Easter Egg Hunts are rare events where the general public can simply book and turn up. The grounds are used for scouts and for other pre-arranged visits throughout the year and it is rare for the general public to be able to simply attend, as they are able to do for the Easter Egg Hunt or Bluebell Day.
“It feels amazing to be opening up again,” said Steve. “A skeleton staff have worked through the pandemic and we’ve taken the opportunities to make improvements on site - most importantly, we’ve missed our visitors.”
Run by the Kibblestone District Scout Council charity, the camp is generally a hive of activity, particularly in summer. It has hosted scouts from across the globe and is used regularly by local groups.
There are more than 30 guided activities available on site, from abseiling to axe throwing and pond dipping to coracle building.
Along with scout groups, Kibblestone can be booked for school visits, for conferences and by companies looking for activity-based away days.
There’s staff on site and indoor accommodation, although many visitors prefer to pitch tents and meet around a traditional camp fire. Kibblestone camp is large enough to be split into two areas and can safely accommodate scouts or schools and, for example, a company activity break, simultaneously.
