Persimmon Homes North West has announced plans to donate to community groups which help the over-70s for the foreseeable future.

Elderly residents to be given monthly donations during virus outbreak

The Community Champions scheme, launched by Persimmon Homes North West, aims to help local groups, charities and good-causes across Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales, with two monthly donations of up to £1,000.

Many elderly residents are at high-risk, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and as a result, the donations will be made to groups that directly support over-70s in the community.

Since its launch in 2015, the Community Champions scheme has donated more than £3million to around 3,500 community groups.

Karl Wiseman, director-in-charge of Persimmon Homes North West, said: "We have always believed in supporting the communities where we build, especially grassroots activities, and we hope people understand our desire to specifically support the over-70s at this time."
