An electrical fault is believed to have caused a fire involving a fridge in Runcorn.

The incident was reported at 11.08pm on Saturday, February 4, on Helston Close in Brookvale.

Two fire engines from Runcorn and Widnes attended.

Crews in breathing apparatus extinguished the flames and moved the fridge to the garden to damp it down.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) spokesperson said: "All occupants of the property were accounted for and the cause is believed to have been due to an electrical fault within the appliance."

Earlier that evening, at 6.38pm, crews had tackled a blaze caused by a wood burning stove on Grangemoor in another part of Runcorn.

CFRS said the fire had affected the fascia on a garage roof, prompting the crews to damp it down and check for hotspots.
