Entries for this summer’s Swansea Ironman have sold out
The race incorporates swimming, cycling, running and will see 1,900 athletes compete
Entries for Swansea's Ironman 70.3 triathlon this summer are now sold out, organisers have announced.
The race incorporating swimming, cycling and running will see 1,900 athletes take to the start line on July 16.
Athletes from all over the globe and all age groups will traverse scenic coastline and rolling countryside before the finish in the city centre.
Swansea Council cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, Cllr Robert Francis-Davies said:
“We’re delighted that Ironman 70.3 is already a sell-out, it’s another great and successful event being held in our spectacular coastal location.
"That weekend will also see thousands of athletes, supporters and spectators enjoy the 2023 World Triathlon Para Series Swansea on July 15, an amazing end to a week-long Disability Sport Wales Para Sport Festival.
"This unique week was first staged here in summer 2022 and was a great success for athletes, supporters, local businesses and residents.
"It saw Olympic, Paralympic, World and Commonwealth champions all racing in Swansea."

He added: "We will continue to work with the event organisers to ensure that local
people and businesses have every chance to plan for and to enjoy all these events.
"We want to inspire local people to compete in sport and to enjoy it in other ways too.”
Ironman 70.3 delivers in many ways, combining outstanding natural beauty and rich history with an exciting course.
The one-loop 1.2-mile swim begins at the Prince of Wales Dock in Swansea Marina, followed by the one-loop 56-mile bike course through the Mumbles along roads that hug the Gower’s coastal clifftops before cycling through rural patches and heading back along Swansea Bay into the city.
Lastly, athletes will take on a 13.1-mile two loop run course, which takes them from the city centre, out past Swansea Arena, towards Mumbles and back towards the finish line at the marina.
Organisers said it is a must-do race in any athlete's calendar.
