Essex businesses invited to ‘lunch and learn’ about new waste legislation

The Essex Waste Partnership is providing expert advice to help businesses prepare for changes to waste legislation.

Essex businesses of all sectors and sizes are invited to ‘lunch and learn’ about the county’s new plan for managing waste.

The free online event by Ambitious Essex on Tuesday, April 23 will explore the draft Waste Strategy for Essex by the Essex Waste Partnership (EWP) and what it means for businesses.

More than 4,500 people had their say on the strategy through a 10-week public consultation in late 2023.

The EWP, which comprises the county council and 12 district, city and borough councils, is providing expert advice to help businesses prepare for the changes to waste legislation.

This includes the requirement for businesses to separate recyclable materials from general waste.

Commercial and industrial waste is estimated to make up around 80% of all waste generated, or requiring treatment, in Essex. This equals roughly 2.8 million tonnes a year.

The lunch and learn is also an opportunity for businesses to find out what is important to Essex residents when it comes to waste and the environment. Register here.
