For the first time in two years, the Essex Police Choir is warming up their vocal cords to start performing again.
Following the end of the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the choir has been able to expand their range with the addition of six new members already signed up to sing.
With rehearsals now well underway, they will soon be back out there raising money for charity.
Anyone can join the choir and, with around eight performances planned every year, there are plenty of opportunities to represent the police service in Essex and beyond.
Mark Lawrence, choir chairman, said: "We are so glad to be back performing and, more importantly, raising money for good causes. It is going to be a challenge to bring ourselves up to the high standard to which we were performing in 2019 but it will be a great one to achieve."
The choir performs a range of songs from show stoppers to popular classics, with some well-known church music thrown in to demonstrate their vocal talents.
The 40 or so members are talented enough to be able to cover all the soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts and, since their formation in 1989, the choir has raised over £350,000 for local good causes.
The choir rehearses every Tuesday evening at Essex Police Headquarters, in Chelmsford, Essex and their first concert of the year will be held at St Mary's Parish Church in Wivenhoe on Saturday, April 30.
