Exeter Rotary Clubs raises more than £5,000 for hospital appeal

Submitted by Gordon Bess, The Rotary Club of Exeter

Three Rotary Clubs have proved that 'we're all this together' by raising and donating a large sum of money to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Following the hospital's appeal “HelpUsHelpYou,” the three clubs were able to donate £5,070 directly towards providing extra support and essential items for the wonderful key NHS staff.

Exeter Southernhay Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Exeter, Devon initially gave a donation of £1,900 to the Appeal.

This was followed by two Thursday night 'Clap and Donate' collections in Countess Wear village and Topsham, Devon.

Thanks to the exceptional response from residents, a further £2,270 was raised in Topsham and £500 in Countess Wear.

A further contribution of £400 was then made, by Topsham Rotary Club, bringing the total figure to £5,070.

David Garaway, president of Exeter Club, said:  “We are delighted that Rotary in Exeter has been able to help our hospital at this difficult time, thanks to the public's most generous support.”
