TORBAY’S RNLI volunteers have rescued an exhausted solo sailor struggling off the bay.
The crew went to the aid of the sailor on a 34-foot boat after it suffered engine failure.
The helmsman had been struggling to reach Brixham for many hours under sail and in decreasing winds.
A spokesman for the Torbay lifeboat said: “Our volunteers found him very tired and took his boat under tow three miles south west of Berry Head.
“He was brought back to the safety of Brixham Harbour.”
