Residents and colleagues have been making plans for this year's big celebrations over tea and cake at HC-One’s Kinnaird Manor, in Camelon, Stirlingshire.

Everyone had a say in which events they wanted to celebrate this year and made their wishes and hopes for the year known.

2020 was a difficult year for everybody and many residents and colleagues are hopeful that 2021 could be a return to some kind of normality.

Helen Neilson, a resident at the home, said: “It’s only now with all the restrictions that we realise just how much we took the simple things for granted, even a simple stroll to the postbox.”

The most popular wishes were being able to spend more time with family as well resuming visits to favourite places.

Many care homes were hit particularly hard during the pandemic as residents weren’t able to see their families as much as they wanted, and many visits took place in a visiting booth or through a window in the home.

Another resident commented: “It is staggering to think that it has almost been a year since we have been able to go out.”

On the cards for January was a Burns Night party where residents enjoyed poetry readings, a quiz and a delicious Burns supper.

Julie, a colleague at Kinnaird Manor, said: “I can’t wait to organise a day trip in the mini bus to somewhere nice.”
