A Hampshire charity has appointed a new director of fundraising to drive their future fundraising success.
After a career spanning over 20 years in global commercial marketing within the media and publishing corporate environment as well as over two years’ experience in the charity sector, Gina Almond joins The Brain Tumour Charity, based in Farnborough, Hampshire, from Blind Veterans UK.
Gina’s new role as The Brain Tumour Charity’s director of fundraising begins today (January 18) with a remit to lead and grow primarily digital-first fundraising teams across trusts and foundations, legacies, corporate partnerships, special events and challenges.
Gina said: “I am really looking forward to working with the team at The Brain Tumour Charity to continue the fantastic work they do to fund much-needed medical research and provide high-quality support and information for anyone affected by a brain tumour.
“It is a shock to many people when they discover that brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40. 2020 has been challenging for many charities and The Brain Tumour Charity is sadly no exception – a sudden drop in income means less money for the essential research needed to ensure this statistic changes for the better.
“The ambition of the charity to double survival and halve the harm that brain tumours cause, and the unapologetic speed with which they want to achieve these aims, is inspirational, and I am looking forward to harnessing this passion and drive of the team to generate the awareness and income that this disease deserves.”
Sarah Lindsell, chief executive officer at The Brain Tumour Charity, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gina as we aim to redouble our efforts to support and drive change for all in our community. Gina brings a wealth of experience and determination that will be critical in helping us innovate and evolve our fundraising in these challenging times.
“Our supporters and partners continue to sit at the heart of everything we do, and without them our vital research, support and campaigning simply wouldn’t be possible. Gina’s expertise and leadership will be invaluable to the charity as we continue to work and partner with our community towards our vision of a world where brain tumours are defeated.”
Gina will replace The Brain Tumour Charity’s current director of fundraising Geraldine Pipping who has been a member of their Senior Leadership Team and instrumental in their work for the past six years.
Sarah Lindsell added: “Everyone here at the charity, all those who have worked in her teams and all those passionate supporters in the UK who she has inspired, will greatly miss her but we know she we continue to be a presence at our events and will continue to cheer our community on.”
