Farnborough began a hectic month with a 2-1 victory at Beaconsfield Town on Saturday.

Having not played in the league for three weeks, Farnborough proved to be a little rusty on the 3G at Holloways Park and found themselves a goal down with just 90 seconds on the clock.

Poor defending allowed unmarked Beaconsfield striker Nathan Minhas the time and space to drive a low left-footed strike into the net after a corner.

The visitors responded with an equaliser on 17 minutes when left-back John Oyenuga dribbled forwards, cut inside and his shot squirmed under Beaconsfield goalkeeper Ryan Hall and over the line.

Farnborough's own goalkeeper Jack Turner was having a fantastic game with a string of vital saves throughout the half, to keep the hosts at bay.

Deep into first half stoppage time, the turnaround was complete as top scorer Paul Hodges blasted an unstoppable strike into the top left-hand corner.

Beaconsfield failed to threaten the Farnborough goal in the second half, as the visitors held on to complete a league double over their Buckinghamshire opponents and collect three more crucial points in the quest for promotion.

On Wednesday, March 9, the side from Farnborough, Hampshire, host AFC Portchester in the Hampshire Senior Cup semi-final, before travelling to Yate Town in the Southern League Premier South on Saturday, March 12.

Speaking after the win, Farnborough centre-back CJ Fearn said: "That second half was an absolute slog. The wind is horrendous, but we got the three points. That's all we needed!

"It would have made it easier first half if we've have sunk a couple of those [chances], but that's football. You can't score every time can you?

"The boys dug in, you saw that. That was a team performance. Everyone ran their socks off and that's exactly what we're going to need if we're to push for this promotion.

"We want to win every game we can. We saw what Yate did to us at our place and we want to get our own back. We've got to keep going for us."
