With a rich selection of musical talent to be found within its walls, Felsted School once again hosted its annual Musician of the Year competition.
This year saw over 80 individual performances take place across a number of different categories and the audience was treated to a programme of performances, from woodwind performances to strings, at the finalists’ concert.
The finalists across all categories were invited to perform to compete for the overall prize - the prestigious ‘Felsted Musician of the Year 2022.'
After a tough decision by the judges, Sana A-J from Year 13 was crowned the overall winner for her impressive percussion and organ performances.
The winning students will also be celebrated during the Lists and Prize Giving segment at Felsted’s Speech Day in the summer, held at the school near Dunmow in Essex.
The school was delighted to welcome James Woodhall, director of music at St Edmund’s College, to adjudicate the competition.
As a passionate composer who encourages students to engage, experiment and enjoy music in all its forms, he was well-qualified to give his skilful and encouraging feedback to every performer.
William Warns, director of music at Felsted School, said: "There was a wonderfully supportive atmosphere throughout the whole day and everyone performed brilliantly."
