Firefighters called to midnight house blaze in Torrington

Firefighters from Torrington and Bideford were called to a house fire in Torrington last weekend.

The incident commander on scene confirmed that a small fire had been located in the oven, which caused minimal damage at Torridge View at around midnight on Sunday, May 2.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus sets, a safety jet and a hose reel jet to extinguish the oven fire. They also removed the oven to open air and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the property.

One male was treated on scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
