Fly-tippers dump waste by Staffordshire Moorland country park
'This is anti-social behaviour and these people do not deserve to be part of our community'
A large load of commercial waste has been dumped on a country road near Cheddleton.
Between 2.30pm and 7.30pm on January 16, a large amount of waste was fly-tipped onto the verge and down the bank into Deep Hayes Country Park on the approach to Lee House Farm, Brund Lane, Cheddleton.
Councillor Mike Bowen, who has the responsibility for communities on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, said the authority has no hesitation to prosecute anyone who fly tips in the district.
He said: “There are facilities available as tips are open to dispose of such waste, but some people would sooner dump it in our countryside.
“This is anti-social behaviour and these people do not deserve to be part of our community.
“I feel sorry for the good people of our community who are suffering at this time, while some people carry out anti social activities. These fly tippers cost the Moorlands council a lot of money in clearing it up.”
