Avenue Vets FC – Wirral District FA Junior Cup Champions.

In a week where the CWFL program is winding down, the Wirral District FA Cup Competitions took centre stage on Monday and Saturday with the Amateur and Junior Cups being contested for respectively.

On Monday in a hotly contested game CWFL Premier Division side Ellesmere Port FC came up against West Cheshire League opposition in the form of Heswall FC Reserves. The game ended 1-1 at the final whistle with Ellesmere Port holding their nerve to win the shootout 4-2.

On Saturday in the WDFA Junior Cup Final 2 teams from the Vets Division 1 went head to head in an enthralling game. Avenue Vets Came up against Capenhurst Vets in a game that was closely contested by both teams. Avenue took the lead through Anthony Sheehan but were pegged back by Capenhurst forcing the game to penalties, which Avenue won 4-3 after their keeper Stephen Evans, pulled off a spot kick save.

In the other games, played in the week, Winsford Saxons finished off their CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship B Season in style with a 12-0 win over Orange Athletic. Callum Herbert lead the way with four goals followed by Barry Jones, two, Jaymie Roberts, two, Farrell Duncan and James Crowther.

It was a bitter sweet end to the season for the Saxons as it turned out to be Managers Gary Lee Jamieson and Mike Fitzsimmons last game in charge as they go on to take over Winnington Ave 94 FC Reserves for the 21-22 season in the Cheshire League.

All at the CWFL wish them well in their new appointment and thank them for their efforts this year.

On Monday, Princes Villa beat Christleton FC 8-4. The Christleton goals came via Dan Hamp, two, Guy Frickel and Caelen McCool. On Tuesday Evening in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship B Runcorn Sports and Black Horse shared the points after the game ended 2-2.

Kynan Mason and Gordon Harrison were the Black Horse marksmen. On Wednesday night in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division Shaftesbury Youth had Mike Watkins and Eddie Jebb on target in the 2-1 win over Blacon Youth Reserves.

In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship A game Chester Nomads III’s beat Hoole Rovers 3-2 with goals from Trey Lattie, Macaulay Salter and Tim Ashbrook. In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 Tarvin Vets beat Frodsham Park JFC Vets 3-1.

In the only game played on Saturday in the CWFL Ashton Vets beat Frodsham Park JFC Vets 6-2 with goals from Rhys Nevett, two, Stuart Mackie, Tom Harrison, Luca Trasatti and Matt Edwards. With the exception of a couple of games and the finals of the Warrington, Blacon and EPSV Flexi Cup Finals to play.
