Friends take on a month of challenges for St David's Hospice

MONTH LONG CHALLENGES: Friends Paul Williams and Dean Seager

Friends challenged themselves to raise vital funds to help care for people in their local communities.

Paul Williams and Dean Seager, who are members of the Victoria Club in Craig-Y-Don, Clwyd, decided that throughout February, not only had they pledged to have a dry month, a popular fundraiser and health kick, they decided to push themselves even further by cycling 300 miles each.

The pair raised funds by donations generously given by family members, friends, fellow members of the Victoria Club, and the generous guests who visited the club.

Their fundraising efforts raised a fantastic total of £2,150 with £1,150 for St David’s Hospice and £1,000 being donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

St David’s Hospice is a charity close to Dean as his father was cared for in Llandudno, and a member of his family also works for the Hospice.

Speaking to Paul and Dean after they completed the challenges, they said: “We both really enjoyed the challenge, although it was very tough at times.

“We are pleased we were able to complete both challenges and raise much needed money for two very worthwhile charities.”

St David’s Hospice fundraising manager, Adrian Owen said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to both Paul and Dean for supporting St David's Hospice with this challenge.

“Cycling 300 miles each on a bike whilst also having a 'dry' month is some achievement and we are impressed by their dedication to achieve these milestones.

“Thank you also to everyone that supported them, particularly everyone at the Victoria Club who encouraged and donated and in the process helped raise a fantastic amount for the Hospice and Prostate Cancer UK.

“I look forward to hearing about their next challenge!”
